Can Picoseconds Remove Pesky Spots?

Picosecond laser technology is one of the newest laser resurfacing technologies on the market. For patients interested in tattoo removal, wrinkle reversal, or acne scar therapy, picosecond laser rejuvenation may be a smart choice.Picosecond laser skin rejuvenation is FDA-approved for laser treatment of pigments—most notably tattoos. Picosecond technology refers to the rate at which laser energy is delivered to the skin. In this case, a laser beam at a specified energy level is delivered in one picosecond (one trillionth of a second). This is an extremely fast laser beam delivery speed that basically reshapes the skin and triggers a strong collagen-producing response. The best part about picosecond laser rejuvenation is that it has limited downtime and is safe for all skin types. Patients experience pink, sensitive skin for only a few hours after treatment.

Ultra Picolris laser from PZ laser. The laser goes beyond traditional picosecond lasers by combining the highest power possible with more wavelengths and treatment modalities. The intensity and precision of the Ultra Picolris laser allow it to achieve optimal results in fewer sessions – saving patients time and money while delivering amazing results.

We all have things in the past that we want to erase. For many of us, this includes one or more tattoos. Fortunately, picosecond laser technology can remove body ink faster and more efficiently than ever before. If you’re considering laser tattoo removal, it’s important to remember that not all lasers used to remove tattoos are created equal. The color of the tattoo and how deeply the ink is embedded are important. Not all tattoo removal devices have wavelengths that can target the full spectrum of pigment colors. It is very difficult to remove light blue and green pigments. Our Ultra Picolris laser effectively treats all tattoo colors with precision and uniformity – reducing the discomfort and recovery time associated with laser tattoo removal.

Effective treatment of acne scars remains a major challenge, but picosecond laser treatment is easier. We know how psychologically debilitating acne scars and pockmarks can be for our patients, which is why we are excited to offer picosecond laser treatments to help reduce the appearance of acne scars and, in some cases, eliminate them entirely. The Ultra Picolris laser uses revolutionary technology to trigger the production of new skin cells that will replace old scar tissue. As new skin cells form, acne scars and pockmarks gradually disappear as damaged tissue is replaced naturally. This is different from the typical treatment for acne scars, which is a partial ablative laser (although we also have this option). These lasers are rougher on the skin and even out its tone by removing layers of skin, which can take up to a month to heal. A picosecond laser doesn’t remove parts of the skin, so it can lead to a faster and more painful healing process. For patients who cannot take time off work to recover, picosecond lasers may be a better option. Patients undergoing picosecond laser treatment for acne scars experience virtually no downtime or discomfort, and depending on the severity of the scar, multiple appointments may be recommended.

Picosecond laser therapy reverses wrinkles by using an add-on device to the Ultra Picolris laser, which redistributes the picosecond beam into hundreds of microbeams to smooth the skin. It’s a relatively painless process that doesn’t require any downtime. It reverses wrinkles in two ways. First, due to the laser’s effect on the skin and tissue ablation, it promotes a dramatic remodeling of collagen. Second, it creates pores in the skin that do not close immediately, allowing cosmeceuticals, vitamins, growth factors or other topical compounds to penetrate deep into the dermis. Picosecond laser treatment is completely customizable to your goals. You can choose to receive treatment more gently over multiple sessions, or for faster results, you can choose to receive fewer, more aggressive treatments.
